Zilco Trot Automatic Rein
Some horses may need to have their head high to start the race, but perform better with their head lower afterward. Using a self-rein is ideal in this case because the driver can adjust it on the move.
The stainless steel pulley is screwed onto the saddle in place of the McKinney hook, and the thimble at the end of the chain at the front part of the reins.
The straps are attached to the sulky with snap hooks. The gray one is used to shorten the reins and thus raise the horse's head, the red one to release the chain and allow the reins to lengthen.
