Before you begin, make sure you have the right tools. We recommend a Philips brand long-handled screwdriver, head number 3, your EASY-CHANGE® gullet tool, and your EASY-CHANGE® gullet and balance kits.
When making adjustments to your saddle, it is important that the weight of the saddle is fully supported so that you have your hands free and a clear view of what you are doing. If you prefer to stand while doing this, you will need a covered table to protect the saddle.
Clamp the back of the saddle (the cantle area) between your knees and the table, with the saddle panel facing away (against the table). The saddle is now held firmly and you have both hands free.
If you prefer to sit down to make adjustments to your saddle, grip the back of the saddle firmly with your knees, with the panels facing you; this will also give you both hands free.
Access the pommel arch
Unscrew the stainless steel screw located under the small flap at the front of the saddle. Some models are equipped with a system hidden by the attachment ring that acts as a screw.
Lift the large flap marked " EASY-CHANGE® Fit Solution," tucked under the saddle panel and secured with Velcro. Pull it out of the gullet and panels—you'll see your gullet.
Remove the Flexiblocs and, if necessary, remove the anchor point of the counter-girths from under the Velcro flap.
Gently push the panel out of the tree to release the screw thread from the tree arch and slide the panel out of the arch.
Repeat this maneuver on the other side.
You are now ready to change the “ EASY-CHANGE® ” arch to its optimal width and make the balancing adjustments inside the panels with the EASY-CHANGE® inserts.
Remove the two screws at each end of the saddle tree arch, remove the saddle tree arch.
Stretch the tree in the direction you are going to change the arch – wider or narrower, for 30 seconds.
Place the new arch into the channel, apply more Loctite 243 (which is removable) to the arch screws or use the screws that came with the new arch. Adjust the arch, tightening each screw only when it is fully seated, then tighten it fully.
Reassemble the saddle
Readjust the padding on the tree by sliding the ends of the tree gullet into the pockets on the panel. Slide the panel onto the tree attachment points.
Insert your EASY-CHANGE® Gullet Tool through the hole under the saddle flap, through the hole in the tree, and into the stainless steel thread and lift the tool to locate the thread through the tree in alignment.
Hold the panel, tree, and flap in place while removing the EASY-CHANGE® gullet tool and insert the screw, starting by hand before tightening it firmly with the screwdriver. Ensure the attachment ring is positioned correctly at the end. Repeat this on the other side. If your saddle has a D-ring, please ensure the D-ring is positioned correctly at the end. Repeat this on the other side.
Before replacing the wide flap over the gutter, and under the panels on either side, make sure you have covered both edges, which will give a neat finish once the operation is completed.
Remember to replace your Flexiblocs on the saddle flaps and, if possible, secure the anchor point of the girth straps under the Velcro flap.
